I'm a little curious about the SCPD dispatching. Does anybody know if each precinct has its own dispatch in house or is it one centralized dispatch center? I know each precinct has its own dispatch talkgroup. And if it is a centralized dispatch where is it located? Thanks in advance.

SCPD operates from a central location in Yaphank. They receive and dispatch calls from there. |

I believe they have a radio at each precinct front desk or close to it and can communicate with their cars directly if needed... |

They are dispatched out of SCPD HQ. in Yaphank. It's 2 rooms, 1 big room is where 9-11 calls are received and on the other side of the wall is the dispatch room. Each of the 7 PCT's and Command ( Aviation, ESS, Marine, K-9, etc.) have their own dispatcher. All of these personnel are "public safety dispatchers" (a civilian position in the department) these positions were once filled by sworn police officers up until a few years ago. |

What scanner do you have? I can't find my crystal ball today. What radio id's are you asking about? Dispatch calls car 103. Car 103 answers. What exactly are you trying to do? |

Radio IDs are different than car numbers. If your scanner is setup to show UID's, you will notice they can change all the time, with the exception of the dispatcher's radios.
for the most part, I would ignore what you see on the UID. They will not marry up to the sector car. |
