Just wondering if anyone on the island uses GMRS repeaters or operates one. I have read about a bunch of them but it all appears to be outdated info. I recently got a GMRS licence this way the family would be covered since only my father and I are hams. Its also nice some times to just get off the ham bands.
There are still several GMRS repeaters operating in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Mostly all of them are CLOSED REPEATERS meaning that you need the repeater owner's permission to use it.
Yeah thats what I've been seeing I have sent a few emails to some folks inquiring about use. I will probably end up just experimenting with one of my own
