Hello! Recently while listening to NCPD I'll hear dispatch/units talking normal speed, then they'll start talking extremely quickly, then go back to normal again. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I have not only on w2lie.net but also my scanner app (5-0 radio) which I would assume is run by w2lie anyway.
Also-I understand that now if I had a scanner to listen to let's say NCPD 1&7 I would just punch in the freq for that into a scanner and it'll work, however I don't understand how trunking works at all and have heard NCPD is changing to a trunking system soon. Just wanted to know if anyone knows when the change will happen and what it will mean to people with normal scanners.
Help appreciated!

Trunk radio systems are computerized. They are very difficult to comprehend if you aren't familiar with radios. In simplest terms, a trunk system is a pool of frequencies that are regulated through a "Control Channel" channels are organized into "Talk Groups" when a user keys up their radio, the radio communicates with this "Control Channel" and that Talk Group is assigned one of the frequencies on the system. There are a few trunk systems, Motorola is very popular, Suffolk County uses a Motorola Type II custom system. The system you are talking about in Nassau is their EDACS P25 system which I am not too familiar with. |

It may be due to the additional loading on my pc.
Please send me the date and times you experience the problems. I am interested to see if these times align to when my local machine is operating at 100% |

Happened to me today at 11:59, 12:09, 12:18, 12:49, and 13:09 I would download the audio and cut it down to just those times, but I will have to wait, as I am not premium |

Hmm, I heard it real quick in the archives for 12:18. It happens around 12:18:45. It almost sounds to me like the encryption didn't fully decode on the repeater end.
Have you tried listening to any of the other feeds? If so, do you notice the same problem there? I host the NCFD-West, SCPD, and SCPD-West feeds on the same pc.
I was using the PC from about 12:10 - 12:20, but I was off of it for the rest of the day around 12:20pm. |

I only listen to that and NCFD-east Quick side note-is there any diffrence between NCFD east and west beside scanner placement? If there's no diffrence I'll listen to west and see if I notice any oddities |

Thanks VSFD, I think we got our answer on that one! Finally, a problem that isn't on my end
As far as East Vs West, the only difference is the scanner placement. They both scan the exact same things. |
