The other day i heard what possibly sounded like a vehicle repeater on 457.825 with no tone

It was definitely PSEG as they were using their radio codes ("21" is their 10-4) im just not sure if it was actually a vehicle repeater or some other general ops type channel...

Recently they just got a few licenses for some relatively low powered hi band repeaters mainly in Suffolk -

I know some of the cross band repeaters only use a tone on the input side, so that sound right. Good catch

457.825 - Is licensed to LIPA (WQWN467)

I havent heard much activity on that freq since then again i suppose one would have to be quite close to a vehicle to hear that but yes most likely a mobile repeater setup is what that freq is used for
I still hear some type of beeps and data noises from time to time on some of those other 457/467 freqs

Heres a few more of those 5/10 watt repeater freqs which were licensed a little earlier in the year
Seems like these repeaters tend to be at or near substations and the like so i suppose its a possibility they could actually be used for some type of remote controls
Also intresting how despite being such low power the radiated power is licensed for 100 watts on some of them...

I got some strange popping/clicking noises on a few of those new 5 watt freqs so im guessing these may be used for some type of data...
