Make sure in the system you set up to trunk, you have selected a site and programmed the frequencies under Site 1. Double check that you are set up for the correct trunked system selected and that you are able to hear the control channel. Remember, with an EDACS system, you must have all of the frequencies in LCN which basically means in order

Ok, checked all of the above. Still can't get the sound. As I have said I have also tried the file that W2lie has sent, and that file works on his scanner, but not mine. Anything else I might be doing wron??

FYI, I don't have that scanner.
I sent that file to some one else, and they said it worked.

Luke, maybe you can send him your file?? There has to be a small setting that is wrong. LFDLT, maybe we can meet up and take a quick look at the radio..

I can probably send it to him but I need to get the file from my other computer. I am not sure when that is going to be. At the earliest, next week. So if you can hang on, I will get you that file

My PD just got 2 BCT 15x's in their new cruisers. Holy crap! What cable do I need to program these things? My computer doesn't have a serial port on it. I'll make sure they move the BCT 8's to the new cars next year. This scanner is WAY over the Cops heads. I'm not even sure where to start to program this thing, other than having to use software.

Bob

Chief,
The serial cable should come with the BCT15X's. You can use a USB to Serial Adapter, or a Uniden USB Cable

Yes, using BuTel takes the anger right out of programming the radios. You can also set the radios up with Statup keys.. Press 1 while boot will unlock / lock a set configuration. Press 2 while boot, and another configuration is entered.

When I setup the BC996T scanner for the local Red Cross chapter, that is how I did things. I don't know if they use it though.

Thank you scannerman5555. i was just wondering, is it nessacery to get a base unit with digtial tracking, or not? i dont think i need it around here (nassau/suffolk line).
i want a good scanner for serious listening, and i've used uniden/bearcat for many years with no problems.
