Curious how this will pan out in the end. Right now there are 8 county pd tgs (not counting pd ops or any det channels) and only 8 freqs on site 4.

The P25 system is TDMA capable, which means those 8 frequencies become 1 control + 14 traffic channels. That is actually more capacity than the current analog SmartZone primary simulcast cell (1 control + 13 traffic channels), and of course doesn't take into account the other sites/simulcast cells in the P25 system, which increases the capacity even more. 700 and 800 MHz are considered a single band on these systems and the subscriber radios, which means they will have no trouble at all roaming between any of the P25 sites when permitted to do so.

165 on p25, 2640 on 800, FRES OPS-2 seems to be being used for rescue calls yesterday into today. Anyone in the know , know if its permanent or temporary? Never really received much on that tg.. And never really was interested in medical related calls..

Thanks

Just heard someone in 6th batt say they are going back to their primary repeater. Read yesterday the Riverhead vac's repeater broke down and fres loaned them 20 vhf radios.

I know news 12 is often wrong with details. I don't listen to vhf ambulance stuff but does fres vhf simulcast on p25 or even 800? I do have 29 rid's logged for fres ops 2 tg in both analog and p25. I am thinking it's been Riverhead ambulance I was hearing.

Yes, 1 control + 13 traffic for smartzone now, but I remember the smartzone system was actually 1 cc and 21 voice freqs before they started using some of the analog freqs as p25. Also the smartzone does not have any of the transit tg's on there anymore.

I have not seen slot 1 slot 2 use on the p25 800 as of yet but do see "[GC] Channel Resource Not Available;" many times during the day mostly when a transit bus are trying to talk and the other freqs are in use.

I did catch some on 700 yesterday,

Last night,

Pd ops 3 on 800 is 48112 Divide that by 16 and get 3007. Seeing 3935 active on p25 site 4 with enc group messages when pd ops 3 is active on 800. Not every call

Do not see any patches in unitrunker involving any of the above tg's.

Looked thru dsdplus rid file and do not see any entries logged for 3007 at all. The rid entries logged on 3935 are the same rid's that trunking recorder logged on pd ops 3.

Does anyone else have anything logging the p25 800 mhz site 4 that can have a look for tg 3007 and 3935 starting 10 50 and tell me what you have?

I haven't had unitrunker running in a while but i did log 3007 391 hits between 3-17-19 & 5-11-19 also 3935 12 hits between 5-6-19 & 5-29-19

The rid's that I was seeing on pd ops 3 (48112) were highway units. The matching calls on p25 were on 3935 (tg 63920) which does not match pd ops 3 (3007)

On the p25, pd ops 3 was not showing anything. Just 3935 when pd ops 3 was active on 800 and it was the same rid's.

I only had unitrunker running the 800 and dsdplus was doing the p25.

While ut was running on 800, nothing was active or logged on tg 63920..

If I say I am puzzled by this, someone will chime in with a simple answer.

OK

I am puzzled..

I can't give you a definitive answer, as this obviously deviates from expected behavior. With the SmartX site converter, you'd certainly expect that the TGID's would match up between systems, so as you pointed out 48112 (BBF) on the SZ system should equate to 3007 (BBF) on the P25 system.

I'm not intimately familiar with the SmartX site converters, however I suspect that they are configurable so that you can prevent particular talkgroups from being linked across systems. You may even be able to create a custom map so that 48112 is linked to 3935, instead of the default 3007. Why they would do this is a mystery to me, but I can't think of any other explanation off the top of my head. I'll poke around in the SmartX configuration manual to see what it says.

Are the other talkgroups on both systems still linked as matching pairs? Is this one the only anomaly you've noticed so far?

is it possible they would patch it to 3007 so it would be "in the clear" and then patch it to 3935 to maybe test out encryption.

With SmartX, there is no need to patch anything...the device takes care of that natively by automatically translating the 3600 talkgroups to 9600, and vice versa. It is possible that they have some sort of patch between the 48112 talkgroup on the 3600 system with the 3935 TG on the 9600 system. Not all patches will show up in Unitrunker or DSD+.

Only noticed that. Everything else I have seen has been in proper pairs. It was in the paper the next day, (but I already knew it was a dwi checkpoint) with scpd and nyspd in Huntington.

For saturation saturday here on LI, nass suff and state were working together to enforce dwi. [link]

Not sure if 3935 was related or not but I can say that the rids on 800 were highway units and the same, with a few now radios were on 3935. I tagged them to see where they pop up..

Nass is enc and I was not monitoring them and I did not notice the states tg's active during this but see that they had activity on the same date on Troop L Ops 1..
