Does anyone know the exact oil company that operates on the "Radon OID" 800meg trunk system? Is it Petro?
I would guess Petro because their office is out of Plainview as well as the tower for this system...

Well i think i confirmed that at least one of the talkgroups is Perillo Bros. oil co. "emergency services"
Got alot of activity on it during the storm so its probobly a talkgroup thats used particularly during storms and whatnot

Theres actually several talkgroups on this system that are to do with oil and heating services - [link]

Not sure if its the same company that operates on all of the oil related talkgroups...

Darkstar350,

Where are you located (if you don't want to say so that's cool )...

Just curious to know if your "listening area" is similar to mine.

I don't usually monitor anything except PD & FD, but with NCPD essentially gone and most of the Nassau County city/village PD's going encrypt it really cuts down on the available stuff to listen to. I will try to monitor more of the stuff you listen just for the heck of it

I monitor this system using a 996XT - but i think as long as you have something that can handle a Motorola rebanded system you can program this,,,

I dont know how this system got the name "Radon OID" - its licensed to Norcom

And it seems like this is intended to cover quite a large area despite having just the one tower in Plainview - i mean its quite big/powerful and also with the elevation in Plainview and all but ive heard some of the oil trucks get dispatched anywhere from Levittown, to more western Nassau , even to some places in Suffolk
I think there is also a similar system in Suffolk - not sure if its inter-connected or whatever...

There are 3 systems on the island. 1 in Nassau, and 2 in Suffolk.

Plainview mostly oil co related

Seldon mix of oil and locksmiths and taxi

Manorville mostly lindys taxi

They all seem to have different talk groups.
