This just occurred to me as of late - Im noticing that Firecom and other Nassau fire depts do not call in to dispatch in the conventional sense i.e "123 to Firecom"
Whereas most NCFD say the unit they want to call first rather then say their own unit name
For example - if Firecom wants to call "unit 123" then they would say "123 Firecom" rather then "Firecom to 123" and so on ...

Nassau has used this for many years 40+. It does make sense because whoever you are calling knows right away. Rather than waiting to see who is being called.

Fire Marshalls use the 500mhz system regularly as well as any FD/EMS ambulance when calling in to a hospital
There are some interop talkgroups and whatnot but rarely used...
