So why is fres only allowed to activate on these “countywide” paging channels guy? Why isn’t it like low band 46.46? Also, check your facts on the 800. The county 800 system wasn’t large enough for the entire fire service, hence why now they have to bullld a 700 system and piggy back the two. Also, ems didn’t convert to 800mhz 25 years ago, while they had a few talk groups for als, medical control - units communicated to medcom via vhf 154.415 and the hospitals via vhf also - guy.

Once again you know nothing but speaking fake news. FRES is the licensee of the new UHF paging frequencies. The fire districts cannot page out on frequencies they are not licensed to operate on. Furthermore, the fire service was offered divisional talk groups on the 800 TRS many years ago but turned it down. The ambulance services wanted in on the system so they got the EMS talk groups you mentioned plus a few others.

Fake news? I was one of the handful of techs who helped build out the system. I’m not arguing about fcc licenses. The fact is, depts WILL NOT able to get fcc licenses for those 2 uhf freqs like they were allowed to get for 46.46 countywide. And as far as the fire services decision, once again I’ll state. Whatever they decided made no difference. The system was not large enough to support them anyway, hence why here we are in 2018 and we had to build a 700 system to piggyback on the 800 system for expansion to allow the fire service to migrate over. Fire had limited talkgroups from day one, mainly FRES, hazmat, Brookhaven Town etc. Even if they wanted to get on the system back from day one, IT WASNT LARGE ENOUGH TO SUPPORT IT PROPERLY. But I guess I’m just spreading “fake news”.

WRONG! The system was definitely large enough to handle an additional 9 or 10 talk groups for each fire division, 10 to 12 talk groups were offered but were rejected by fire service leadership. This happened in the infancy of the 800 TRS system during the planning stages before outside entities were offered and eventually given talk groups. Outside are defined as non county municipalities like state, towns, villages and private entities.

I'm confused. why is FRES the only agency that can transmit on these new frequencies and who said it in the first place?
