Apparently Glen Cove DPW was using a unlicensed frequency - 450.500 which is actually a TV frequency
Funny thing is i thought they were using a low band frequency unlicensed 37.94 PL 186.2 which is in the Radioreference database and i have got activity on that freq/tone but never confirmed it as Glen Cove DPW...

450mhz actually isnt so much a broadcast TV frequency range in the sense as it is more of frequencies that news network choppers and crews operate on
But yes it is somewhat a reserved kind of band
For what its worth if they were indeed using low band unlicensed they may have gotten away with it
Strange why such a wealthy area would need to operate unlicensed
But in all fairness it may not be Glen Coves fault
This could be a case of radios that are just very out of adjustment/ "off frequency"...

I also just found something strange looking up this frequency - [link]
Licensed to "New World Communications " it is a active license with NO control point or transmit location listed
Not even nationwide, nothing
This is a first...

Looks like they got licensed - [link]

Intresting as the new freq being 458.5875 is really not far off from 450.500 so it could have possibly been a case of malfunctioning equipment - but either way would have been unlicensed
Ill see if i hear anything on the south shore - its supposedly a 5 watt base so not expecting any miracles...
