*(BANDS OF HEAVY SNOW WILL IMPACT THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY)*
*(AND MOVE INTO NEW YORK CITY AND NASSAU COUNTY THIS EVENING)*
************************************************************************************************************
*At 623 PM EST, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
bands of heavy snow extending southward from eastern Orange and
Rockland counties southward into northeast New Jersey, moving very
slowly eastward. These bands should slowly move eastward into Putnam
and Westchester Counties, New York City, and Nassau County between
now and 8 PM. Snow in thee bands will fall at the rate of 2 to 3
inches per hour, with visibility less than one quarter mile. Near
blizzard conditions are possible as winds gust to 30 to 35 mph, with
considerable blowing and drifting of snow. Thundersnow may also be possible.
*Nonessential travel is discouraged. Travel will be very difficult to impossible.
Be prepared for additional power outages due to heavy snow weighing down trees or limbs.
