Was hearing digital on 852.71250 WNNM915 NYSP XB B Ch 7 - Troop B . Turns out, 852.7125 is part of WQYJ627 Suffolk site 6 1st pct. Not sure why the freq is not listed on radio reference. If you look up the license, its on that, just not listed with the freqs on radio reference.. When I switched to the p25 system, I was not getting anything as it was never listed on rr.com so it never downloaded to the scanner. |

Nac's are 3C then the site. Site 3 is 3C3 Site 6 is 3C6
I want to question the existence of site 4 all together. While scanning the 1st Pct site with dsd, back in 2016, it listed nl 1.4 (site 4) 851.1625 . But that freq is part of the current Suffolk 800MHz system WNNM880.
If you or Phil could check the licenses, (think I did a while back) I don't think 851.1625 is associated with the 700MHz system.
And the 3 licenses, (WNNM880 WQCE481 and WQOF907) listed under site 4 (700MHz system), I believe are actually the 800MHz system licenses. All 3 reflect the 22 freqs that the current 800MHz system uses.
I have have had 851.1625 in my scanner and have been all over the island both north shore and south shore and have yet to see any activity on that freq other than when its being used as a voice channel on the 800MHz system. I have not seen it ever used as a control channel either.
Thought I read a while back that , that info (neighbor sites ) is input into config files that are broadcast over the control channel. Not sure if that's true or not. Not sure if the right info was input.
I honestly do not think 851.1625 should be listed as a control channel on a 700MHz system when it is being used as a voice channel on an 800MHz system, and has not been physically seen as a control channel on any system....
This is what dsd showed in January
2018/01/31 21:40:18 Current site: BEE00.3CE-1.6 1st Precinct 2018/01/31 21:40:19 BEE00.3CE-1.6 neighbor: Site BEE00.3CE-1.4; CC=0-25 851.162500
Today Dsd lists the following,
2018/07/11 18:58:10 Current site: BEE00.3CE-1.6 1st Precinct 2018/07/11 18:58:25 BEE00.3CE-1.6 neighbor: Site BEE00.3CE-1.4; CC=0-25 851.162500 FAILED, ISOLATED
What is FAILED, ISOLATED mean? |

Which is normally how Motorola sets up an ASTRO 25 system, but I wanted to be sure, since the new SDS100 will prevent the scanner from unmuting with an incorrect NAC.

Just to clarify one important point...the new P25 system is not exclusively a "700 MHz system", but rather is a mixed 700/800 MHz system. For the purposes of an ASTRO 25 system, Motorola considers 700 and 800 to be a single band, and sites can feature a mixture of 700 and 800 MHz frequencies.
Adjacent sites (aka "peers" or "neighbors") are entered into the Zone Controller, and are then broadcast over the control channels of whichever site(s) are adjacent to each other. It's worth noting that the site does not need to physically exist, it can be a "paper site" that exists in the Zone Controller only.
It appears that is what was seen with Site 4. The fact that it now shows FAILED, ISOLATED further reinforces that it doesn't physically exist yet.
You are correct in that it would be highly unusual to have a frequency as part of the P25 system while it is still actively part of the SmartZone system.
I've removed Site 4 from the database.
Thanks! |
