Update on this - recently i have noticed 650 occasionally testing North Merrick toneouts on 46.10 And just today i heard 650 toning North Merrick on 453.575 I did not have tone search on at the time however and i am not sure if this is just a backup thing or what...

That is supposed to be NMFD's new UHF frequency for dispatching. From what I was told, NMFD wanted to be on UHF earlier in the year but had a delay on getting the equipment ordered and installed.
Sounds like they now have the equipment installed and ready to go, and now they are testing. |

Possible DPL of 466
Seems like 650 will be somewhat of a "backup" dispatch if Firecom is busy etc, somewhat a setup like Baldwin has(Baldwin self dispatches mostly, but 650 will dispatch sometimes) So at the moment it seems Firecom will continue to dispatch N.M on 46.10, and 650 will dispatch them on 453.575 when needed I dont know why they want to use that freq however as they already have a hi band repeater freq - unless it will be dedicated for tone outs only...

650 dispatches Baldwin part time, nights, weekends and holidays.
And I think most depts are planning to make the move to UHF paging and ops, as low band is becoming obsolete. Motorola pagers will no longer support low band. Suffolk County Firecom has built a simulcasted UHF paging system with 2 freqs that will replace low band paging, not in use yet. Then all communication with Firecom will take place over a 700/800mhz trunked system. I’m sure Nassau is planning something similar as they have their UHF paging freq already in use.

650 is now the dispatcher for North Merrick. Firecom will still tone out North Merrick if the call comes into Firecom but will ring the alarm line after at 650 and 650 will take over. A few departments do this now where firecom will do the initial tone out and will ring the alarm line of the department they toned out and that department will take over. East Meadow 610 is able to tone out North Merrick if need be as well as a back up. |

North Merrick has not been using their 170mhz freqs for several years Aside from 46.10/32 for dispatch they use 484.7 PL 100.0 which i think is a repeater and 453.9875 DPL 466 which is simplex So the question is will they vacate or re purpose any of their highband freqs now with having the new freq..

Thanks Darkstar. I'll be monitoring 484.7 and will report any findings.
