Thats actually National Grid(i think)
Ive heard a bit of activity on that freq in the past few months as well
And im not sure if im imagining things but it seems to be a repeater?
There are several sites for that freq including the tower on 135 in Syosset

Have you heard any activity that sounds like it is for Nassau County?
I added this into the Suffolk side of the RRDB. If it seems like there is Nassau activity, I'll add it to Nassau if it isn't listed there.

I am not exactly sure where I got that freq from. It's in an old .996 file for my br330t.

I will take note if there seems to be any activity in Nassau going on
What i can confirm is that this seems to be a dispatch freq
153.440 and 161.415 are the dispatch freqs for Nassau
NG is mostly dispatched via MDT type systems
But you may hear a mobile unit giving a radio check and a dispatcher responding a few times a week on these freqs...

I wonder the same thing
But they have been using that freq for years
And i suppose since no railroads in the area use that freq there is no interference
PSEG use a railroad freq as well 160.770 but is very rarely used as a backup channel
