Very interesting stuff. Always wanted to know more about how trunking worked...
Any new updates on this system? Seeing some new tg's on site 4 here and there. Site 3 has very little going on. But when it does, its phase 2 .
Any word on who will primarily use site 3?

Trying to figure out a radio id. 65520 was heard yesterday as a Sam unit (Hostage Negotiation) on pd ops 2. So that's what I labeled it. Later it was on Hospitals North and a Medcom tg. Then on a Fres . It's all over the place. Hunt Bay Hospital North Hospital South Sheriff 2 Sheriff 1 MED COMM West MED COMM East FRES OPS-1 FRES OPS-2 FRES OPS-3 FRES Dispatch Command Band Sheriff Digital etc etc
Here is a screenshot of its history. Any ideas who would be transmitting on this variety of tg's?

It doesn't look like he is transmitting, he is just affiliating on the talk group. (Grant)
It could be a radio tech, or it could be someone who didn't program their personal radio correctly for Tx Inhibit and is now running rogue on the network. |

Grant = Transmitting (channel grant) Join = Affiliation
As Phil said, most likely a tech. It's pretty common on trunked systems to have a few techs running around with every talkgroup in their radios, seen it too often to count, and personal experience. |

The rid is transmitting. Seeing it in UT. Hearing it in trunking recorder. Here is a export of the rid from trunking recorder. Same rid, different voices. WTH?
This is the link to the Trunking Recorder Export-2019-11-26_182005_Radio User-65520-3D0C.mp3. This is an export of just this radio id, on all tg's recorded today. good audio starts at 8.46. Cpu was maxed out from to many programs running at once.
9.33 65520 makes call. Next transmissions is different female replying from same rid. Something is messed up somewhere.
[link] to the mp3
Recording is from smartzone. Now have dsd running side by side and every time 65520 is active on 800, dsd shows a different rid each time. Have not seen it on dsd. Just unitrunker. Just uninstalled and reinstalled and same thing.
Looks like I have to post in the google group.

Ok so I am not crazy. Got a response in google group. Seems the highest rid allowed on type 2 smartzone is 65535. So everytime I see that rid pop up, it's one of the newer radios on the p25 side with a higher radio id.
Quote I saw those quite often when the State system was transitioning from Motorola Type 2 to a P25 TRS. It indicated a radio using an ID greater than the capacity of the older systems. 1801234 on P25 would show as 65520 as the older system allowed < 65535 radios (and some are reserved like 65520) chris End quote
Also, not related, heard dispatcher on NYS Troop L tg yesterday doing radio tests. Told someone they had just installed APX 5500 radios. |

So it looks like many of the new 7 digit rid's in use, are mostly being used by buses, fres and medcomm tg's. 1 or 2 have popped op on sheriff tg.
Speaking of that tg, just heard SPCA 110 telling sheriff dispatch to hold them out at an address in Central Islip. Are the run under the sheriff? |
