On a more serious note:
I’ve been having difficulty picking up this system for a couple of weeks. My PRO-668 with my high-gain 700/800 duck sits on my home office desk. Usually I can just move it around a little and see the “S” turn to a “T” but lately it’s almost impossible to get a signal. I was hoping that with all the leaves off the trees by now it would only get easier. Anybody know of any Tx changes? |

If you're trying to track either of the simulcast cells, then you might try lowering the gain, not increasing it. Less is often more when it comes to simulcast P25 systems. Try turning on attenuation and see if that helps. |

Thanks for the advice but my apologies for not mentioning that I already tried that. I turned on attenuation and also used antennas with less gain, and combinations thereof.
Tonight I moved my scanner to a window and I was able to lock onto a signal. This gives me the impression that I’m getting less signal at my desk than I used to. I have a window suction-cup rig I use when I travel, I’ll try that tomorrow.

Anyone have any updates? |

Anyone have any info on what site 3 is going to be used for? Been watching on and off and there is very little activity on that site. |

Fire departments that decide to go onto the county trs system. I know a few 5th division fire departments have tested using the moto type 2 system. Currently i beleive 5-8-0 is currently trying out using the moto type 2 system for dispatch on fres ops 3. |

I have heard the following on fres ops 3 on both type 2 and p26 site 4
3 0 1 Islip 5 7 0 East Moriches 5 8 31 Eastport 7 8 0 Westhampton Beach
Have not heard these guys on site 3 yet. Just 1 tg 6301 that seems related to fire rescue at islip airport.

Seeing something here. When tg 3935 is active on p25 site 4, tg 48112 active on 800. (Pd Ops 3) Same rid's in use on both systems.
48112 divided by 16 is 3007. 3935 X 16 is 62960. Not adding up. Do not see any patches either. Also, audio is clear on tg 48112 and enc on tg 3935..

I saw it again when,
pd ops 4 48144 was in use on smartzone and 3937 was in use on p25 3937 x 16 = 62992 pd ops 1 48048 was in use on smartzone and 3931 was in use on p25 3931 x 16 = 62896
Also see the same p25 tg id's in dsdplus so it's not a unitrunker thing.

You're not going to see a patch between two systems. Patches only appear when talkgroups of the same system are patched together.
While I would've expected the talkgroups to match up when linked via SmartX, it is certainly possible that they're using console patches between the two systems. In fact, that Source ID of 0 on the P25 system is indicative of exactly that, a console patch.
Basically, the two talkgroups from each system are patched together on the console. The UID normally passes through from one system to the other so that it will appear on either system regardless of what system the radio is transmitting on. If the UID doesn't pass through for whatever reason, or if the console is keyed up, it will normally appear as UID 0 in Unitrunker Source ID column, and DSD+ FL labels the source as EXTERNAL. |
