Not to glorify the situation or anything - but has anyone noticed any different radio activity since the outbreak?
Any radio tests or anything on interop freqs and whatnot ?
I have been noticing a bit of shortwave activity but that could also be due to the tornadoes

| Im noticing medics taking extra precautions and given specific instructions when arriving at a hospital particularly when a patient has a fever or has recently traveled out of country |

I'm hearing dispatchers saying things like "possible pandemic response,"
Also heard a few calls where the ambulance has arrived at the hospital, but called in again saying "we're at back doors of the ER at (hospital name) but waiting for the response team to meet us outside." |

Yes i think they have special procedures in place for when the ambulance arrives at the hospital with a possible virus patient
And anyone with a fever should wear a mask as well as the first responders
It may be of interest to monitor some FEMA or National Guard freqs during this time

Heard a few dispatchers say something like "Universal precaution" when going to a possible Covid call
Also saw some activity on the nationwide 800mhz interop freqs
Couldnt really tell what was being said but it was definitely voice

It's obvious that rampant violence like murder, rape, armed robbery, drive by shootings, crack cocaine and heroin sales, possession and use and excessive drunkedness and general hoodlumry and other TNB has dropped dramatically in certain precincts like the 26, 28, 30, 73, 75, 77, 79, 103, 105 and the 113th. Same for Roosevelt, Freeport, Riverhead, Wyandanch/Weatley Heights, certain parts of Mount Vermin and Yonkers. That alone gives our cops, firemen and EMS guys a badly needed break. GOD bless New York and GOD bless America.

I think people in general even criminals are afraid for their life at this point
So yes there is going to be less loitering/crime and whatnot - but many first responders are sick now so there is going to be less of a police force as well
I was thinking during this time with many businesses closed that may leave room for some vandalism or break ins to the closed buildings but again people are scared and i dont think many would want to go to jail at this point as the virus has hit the jails now
Another issue is enforcing the health orders particularly in the somewhat secluded areas of NYC
There were areas where people did not want to evacuate during Hurricane Sandy
Also in NYC many ambulances including AMR have been sent for mutual aid
I wonder if they will do anything similar here on the island
Hearing many "Covid" medical calls now and i understand "possible covid" but if the dispatcher just says covid im not sure if that means is it someone who tested positive and now has more severe symptoms or what...

| As has always been falsely predicted we don’t see massive increases in crime during times like these because even criminals don’t want to get sick and die. Not saying you can leave your doors unlocked but it’s not like “The Purge” is going to happen. |

What could also be happening is people test positive and get released from the hospital - then still have symptoms or worse symptoms days later
That may be a situation where the dispatcher would just say "Covid" rather than "possible covid"
