The other day on my PRO-668 I was able to log RID 4416354 and was able to make out (clear as day) that this was East Hampton 9-1-6. I heard them in the clear only one other time that day. Today, I have seen that same RID pop up several times, but now there is no audio. Does this mean they are now encrypted?

Run Unitrunker or DSD+ or some other software that decodes P25 control channels. That's the most reliable way to check for encryption usage.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sorry about writing "TGID", I meant "RID."
Oddly I just saw that RID pop up again but this time there was audio and once again it was East Hampton 9-1-16. They may have switched encryption on for some reason.

Or you're just not decoding the system that well, and are missing transmissions. I thought GRE/Whistler scanners make a "busy tone" when they encounter an encrypted transmission?

They do, but I set mine to "silent". Probably time to switch it back to "busy signal."

Ah okay, I forgot they had options for that setting...been years since I've bothered with any GRE designed products.
