Does anyone listen to the NYC DoITT 800 system? I don't get anything, central Nassau County. Is this a type II system? Is it Standard / Splinter / Custom? Band Plan?
Any help is appreciated.

I monitor this system - its not very active at all lately and the signal seems to have deteriorated
About a year ago or so the NYC DEP/Sewer dept was active on there but i think they have switched mainly to the P25 system now
I would also monitor the OEM TG's which have now migrated to the P25 system as well
Pretty sure it was/is Moto Type 2 standard - no special tables or anything needed...

Is DSNY still active on the UHF system?
I think they recently added a UHF simulcast site to the 700mhz phase 2 system so im not sure if everything on the 800 moto system and the UHF system will eventually all migrate to the 700mhz system - or will they just keep 2 separate systems
Another thing i never figured out is the NYC Enviromental police
For a while they were active on the NYC 800mhz system and i know they use a talkgroup on the Onevoice DMR system but i never got a chance to see if that was actually a simulcast or what...

There are three separate DoITT systems:
- UHF T-Band (482-483 MHz) SmartZone system. Single simulcast cell. The majority of talkgroups are analog, however there are about a dozen digital talkgroups using the P25 CAI, and a few of those are encrypted.
- 800 MHz SmartZone system. Single simulcast cell. Same concept as the T-Band system, mostly analog, a few digital.
- P25 system. Two simulcast cells: one on UHF using frequencies taken from the SmartZone system, the other a mix of 700 and 800 MHz frequencies with some of the 800 MHz taken from the SmartZone system (700/800 is considered a single band when it comes to P25 infrastructure/subscriber radios). The P25 system is TDMA (Phase II) capable, but so far only a few DoITT talkgroups using TDMA mode have been observed.
Not surprising, many of the talkgroups that are active on the P25 system are also active on the SmartZone systems. Very easy to tie them all together as they are all built by Motorola, and they have site converters that allow very easy linking between older SmartZone and newer ASTRO 25 systems.
Also keep in mind that the P25 system is one single system, despite having two simulcast cells on different frequency bands. It really doesn't matter what frequency the radio is operating on, it all goes through the same zone controller and system core, allowing for a smooth transition from both SmartZone systems where existing radios can be reused. A UHF FDNY radio can talk to an 800 FDNY or 800 OEM radio seamlessly...no links or patches or other nonsense required. |
