Anyone know what the 3 sets of DTMF are for Mastic Beach?

I'm figuring one activates a cross band to their UHF Paging and another for sirens. But a 3rd set? All 3 sets are played prior to any tones from FRES.

Also, anyone have word on FRES UHF Paging East? I don't hear any activity and a source tells me that there's too much interference from Nassau Firecom paging, that Suffolk might have to use a different freq.

I also asked my source if FRES will put a PL on the paging freqs, as FRES West picks up alot of outside stations, and he said most likely - a PL will be added after the county accepts the system. He said Motorola will not design a paging freq with a PL due to safety concerns.

From firsthand experience, I can assure you that's simply not true. MSI has no issues with designing and building out a paging channel/simulcast with PL enabled from the start.

A bit off topic

Why wouldn't they do a simulcast system on the "West" frequency and cover the entire County?

I tried to delete this and put it in in a post for FRES East & West but couldn't seem to find delete post.

GTR8000 - Just telling you what I was told from the higher ups at FRES.

And PFDMike, what are you asking? Why don’t they just have one simulcasted paging freq for the entire county?

Their tones are all messed up. One of the DTMF's activates the paging crossband shared with Mastic FD hosted at the top of the landfill, another DTMF activates the siren and the other DTMF set was used for when MBFD had their own crossband paging system hosted at their HQ which has since been disbanded. That third DTMF does nothing other than waste time.

Radio technology has changed they are now able to synchronize the transmitters and get wider coverage with additional radio transmit sites. You could do the entire county on one chsnnel rather than have an East & West.

This is off topic for Mastic, I just didn't know how to delete that post.

Prob have 2 freqs just not to clutter up 1 freq. Better off with 2 than 1.

Heartbeat - what the freq mastic and Mbfd share for paging?

That third tone actually flushes the toilet bowl in the firehouse
