The PL tone is great for us who monitor the frequency and for the FRES dispatchers on the RX side of the FRES console but offers no benefit to the 1000’s of Minitor VI pagers throughout the county as the CPS does not offer an option to add a PL Tone to the Selective Call frequency.... |

Mikey, true. But FRES doesn’t monitor their uhf paging, as there’s nothing to monitor. They’re the only ones transmitting alarm activations over it. And the minitor pagers never supported PL or DCS. Odd, but they never did.

The PL tone will also be very useful for all the FD’s that that have fres west set up in their consoles. The constant CT med traffic and intermittent static makes it very annoying to monitor. |

A pager on your hip is much less likely to pick up a distant station, especially on UHF, than a fixed base station or even a mobile radio. Unication is always an option if you want to have a pager with PL capability. If you don't need trunking decoding, the G1 is a more affordable option that is capable of analog QCII decoding with a PL/DPL on the channel. |
