It appears that the Nassau County EDACS system is off the air.
Nassau has been transitioning over to a Motorola P25 (Phase 1) system.
Elvis may have left the building.

| If that is the case, then we should expect to see all or most of those 800 frequencies start to pop up on the 800 cell of the P25 system. Keep an eye on that if you're tracking with Unitrunker or whatnot. |

| Someone submitted all of the remaining 800 frequencies to the P25 system today, so all that remains is to confirm that the EDACS system is 100% off the air. |

| It's off the air. I just set the system to Deprecated so that if anyone wants to grab any data before it is removed from the RRDB, they can. |

Here's the direct link to the system. It's deprecated so it won't appear in the active listings, but it'll remain in the bowels of the RRDB forever.

For those who used to monitor Edacs, how many of those tg's were actually active before they even started transition to P25? I mean looking at the P25, there's not much in comparison to the Edacs.
Probation had like 20 tg's, none on P25. County parks had a bunch but nothing on P25. State parks and State pd and Mta?
Where did all these entities go? Edacs page is 16 pages long and P25 is only 5 pages long.
Phil, if your still logging, how many unidentified tg's do you show on the P25 system? |

When the system was setup they had a lot of talk groups. Their were at least two TG's for each FD, the Fire marshal's had all kinds of groups, County government, NUMC, NCPD, State Police, Village PD's, Villages, Sheriff, Probation, OEM, FD Battalions, Firecom, etc. Many were never utilized.
Some users left the EDACS system some Village police went over to the 500 MHz P25. The MTA, NICE, Cedar Creek all left as well.
I'm sure that the P25 system will not have all of those groups.

Not to derail this EDACS thread into a P25 thread, but I heard a "rumor" from a very reliable source that a lot of the 500 stuff will end up over on the 800 side of the house, and the 500 sites will eventually go away. Note where I put the quotes....

Now that it looks like the EDACS is gone and the frequencies have moved to the P25 system, you can probably merge this with the other thread.
I believe this was the original intention when they built the system, to eventually move off of the t-band frequencies. Now that there is no time constraint, they can take their time. I'd say between all the subscribers (all ambulances, villages, etc) we wont see these 500 sites turned off for a couple of years.
To my knowledge, if there is a subscriber of a certain talkgroup on both the 500 and 800 side, the talkgroup will be simulcasted on both the 500 and 800 side. If there is no radio tuned to that talkgroup affiliated with the 800 side, there is no need to broadcast that specific talkgroup on the 800 side yet. |
