He’s been streaming SCPD over the Internet for almost 20 years now and he was the only reason why the county purchased ADP encryption for the the 800 cell, and when it’s fully implemented, every radio will be smacked with encryption via OTAP. Thanks to him. Let’s face it, scanners aren’t the problem. Trunking killed it for the criminals and the average joe because it’s too complex to program.. You can’t even reliably monitor phase II without spending almost a grand on a scanner AND THEN you need to figure out how to program it. Even most radio techs have trouble programming those things. It’s the online streaming that makes public officials skeptical. Anyone has access to a smartphone and Google. And we all (in the hobby) know that the streaming is poor audio quality, and it is very very unlikely that it can be used to get a head up on law enforcement but the local leaders want any excuse to keep the public out of the loop, and he gave them the only ammunition they needed.
