| I pick up a decent amount of activity on the 900mhz MTA bus system System id is 2E16 There is also apparently a 800mhz system licensed to the MTA listed with an ID of 0E0A
The 900mhz system seems to cover much of the MTA NYC buses operations I hear alot of calls into "JFK Command" which is the main dispatch center for the MTA buses icall is used alot on this system as well
However i do not pick up any activity on the 800mhz system I am familiar with Manhattan buses and i dont recall seeing/hearing two way radios being used on those buses What i am not sure of is the 900mhz system more focused on the boroughs and the 800mhz system is more for Manhattan/citywide ? Or perhaps is the 900mhz system a patch of the 800mhz system?
On the 900mhz 2E16 system i have heard calls related to "BM" bus routes which would be Brooklyn to Manhattan express buses I just would like some clarification on what the difference between the 800mhz and 900mhz systems is - if any
Any info on this is appreciated

| Another possibility could be Up until sometime in the early 2000s some now MTA routes were owned by a company called "Green Lines" I think they did run some of the express buses to Manhattan So maybe this was their(Green lines) radio system and is now used by the MTA specific to those routes

| 2E16 callsign is WNJX248 and Licensee name is MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.
Special Conditions Refer to Locations and Frequencies Tabs for special conditions at those levels Special Condition for AU/name change (6/4/2016): Grant of the request to update licensee name is conditioned on it not reflecting an assignment or transfer of control (see Rule 1.948); if an assignment or transfer occurred without proper notification or FCC approval, the grant is void and the station is licensed under the prior name.
I have no clue what this means but maybe these freqs were auctioned?

I think you're on the right track there. Here's what it says on the MTA web site about MTA Bus:
"MTA Bus operates 44 local routes in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens, 43 express bus routes between Manhattan and the Bronx, Brooklyn, or Queens, and 3 Select Bus Service routes in Queens. The agency was created in September 2004, taking over operations of seven bus companies that operated under franchises granted by the New York City Department of Transportation."
To the best of my knowledge, MTA Bus operates on the 900 MHz completely independent of NYC Transit buses, which operate on the 800 MHz system. | Back to top | | |

Yes it probably falls under like a Motorola blanket license
I am not able to receive this system every day - i suppose conditions have to be specific But when i do it is quite active and clear
So i think the thing regarding the "Green bus" could be true Maybe this was the system that they used and the MTA just grandfathered it when they took over the routes It looks like the 900mhz system is specific to perhaps either or the boroughs and express routes However there also appears to be borough specific TGs on the 800mhz system as well Thats why i am suspecting that the 900mhz system is somewhat a patch of the 800mhz But again i dont recall ever receiving anything bus related on 800mhz With the exception of the Nassau EDACS system when they were active on there
Thanks for the replies
