Melville Fire District says Dix Hills FD is temporarily providing paramedic services to its residents Aug 18, 2023, 5:53pm Updated 2h ago By: Jon Dowding
The Melville Fire District confirmed to News 12 that the Dix Hills Fire Department is temporarily providing 24/7 paramedic services to its residents. The exact reason for the service change is unclear, but Melville Fire District officials say that an audit from the state Department of Health brought an undisclosed issue to their attention. Notice of the issue prompted the Melville Fire District to contract paramedic services from Dix Hills for an undisclosed amount of money. News 12 reached out to the DOH to ask why the change had to be made and was told the subject may be part of an open investigation so it could not comment. In a statement to News 12, the chairman of the Melville Board of Fire Commissioners said in part, “The fire district is dealing with the issue in a direct and forthright manner. At no time before, during or since this issue arose has any Melville Fire District resident been put in harm’s way.” The Melville Fire District also says it believes it will quickly resolve the issue
