Yup, there's digital traffic on SCPD ie; narcotics, district attorney, etc. Also Federal Protection Service on 417.200 MHz is digital, and you'll hear them on LI.

Is it possible for a Motorola Type II system to be "mixed mode" as in analog and digital?

I have been listening to the Suffolk County Trunked system as part of my normal "mix" since I moved here and it is one of the older trunked systems around implemented just as the BC235 hit the market, it has been a Type II system from the "get-go" unlike some other Type I and Hybrid systems that were converted to type II.

Last week I am listening and one of the talk groups comes active, the reception was clearer (no static) and the audio was louder than what I am accustomed to hearing and it had that distinct artificial " digital sound" to it. Today, I got the same thing on the narcotics talk group... now I am not saying it was encrypted.... but if I was not aware of what I was listening to, I would bet a pay check that it was a digital system. One was a Sherrif group and the other was Narcotics.

Between your posts here, and on radio reference, I have to ask, how old are you?

SCPD is in the transition of moving to a P25 system. This will mean they are digital.
