For the 3rd year running, you will be able to listen online to the Air Show at Jones Beach at w2lie.net
The feed will start before the planes arrive - so that you may hear the Blue Angels come into Republic Airport. There is no set schedule posted on any of the sites I frequent, so if anyone has any "inside" information, please feel free to share. If I don't hear any schedule, I will be switching the feed Monday, May 19th.
There is a new list under Frequencies/Codes for this year's performers. [link]
I will also be archiving the audio from the air show, and hope to put it online when I get a chance.
And don't forget to check out the practices at Jones Beach a few days before the show. Admission is free, since the park is not yet open - making it a FREE air show.
While we're on the subject, spend a few hours along the gates at Republic Airport. You'll see the planes taking off and landing all day long. On Thursday and Friday, you can pay to enter the museum, and take a look at some of the planes up close.

The Air Show frequencies are loaded into the feed.
Once I find a schedule, I'll remove all the "extra" freqs and just leave it set for the Air Show. The feed should remain on Air Show only freqs through Memorial Day.
Blue Angels Arrive Golden Knights Arrive War Birds over Long Island Arrive
Friday:
B-17 Yankee Lady should arrive before noon F-22 should come in to Islip MacAuthor Airport American Airpower Museum will launch what they can into the sky at 11.30am
Saturday / Sunday:
Air Show starts at 10 am Blue Angels take off from Republic approx 1.45pm and Return approx 3.15pm USMC Demonstration at Eisenhower Park at 10am
No one does a better job at keeping track of all the events in the air than Dan from LongIslandAviation.info Dan is the man when it comes to finding things out. He knows exactly who to talk to, and its his info that I print out and keep in my back pocket while buffing the show from the beach, Republic, or my own back yard.
If anyone is heading out to any location this weekend, let us know. I bumped into a few of you last year at various places around the island.

I will be at the end of the runway! I am even dragging my kids lol. I need to go get some ear plugs today for my youngest. Look for the blonde in a pony tail or bun with a little blonde boy. I drive a Mazda CX-7, it is a small crossover. I will have my other two and my neice on friday morning sitting at the runway. Also I believe I saw the b-17 land yesterday and another big one. I am going to take a ride over there today. Sorry pictures are blurry took while driving lol. <div class='spacer'></div>

Nice Shots Christina! I was at Republic since 5am this morning, so I'll post up my shots later on.
The Feed is now set to ignore Republic tower, so that you have a better chance at catching the Blue Angels practice session at 2pm. Feed will include Republic later today. 73 Phil / w2lie

I put together a p97 file for the Air Show, this is a file for the Radio SHack Pro-97 using the WIN-97 software by Don Starr. airshow2008.zip
There are 4 banks in the file: -Blue Angels (not all the freqs, just the key freqs...includes the F-22 Raptor Freqs) -Republic Airport ATC -Nassau County Fire frequencies -Nassau County and NY State Law Enforcement Agencies

Hi All, I guess this is post #1! I was at the show ysterday and it was great, as so was my scanning with my Pro97.
Admin, if you can set a Priority on your live feed on Freq 128.25, that is the AirBoss Freq and most of the action was on that. It was there that I heard the P-40 from Warbirds over LI declare an emergency, he was trailing smoke. Later I met the annoucer and he says that it landed safely but the pilot needed to open his canopy to look out as there was oil all over his windshield.
The Blues Freqs were as posted and heard all the action for there as well.

I am not a big fan of "priority" mode, but what I did was disable all Republic comms, so you may hear the feed is a bit more quiet today than it was yesterday.
My hope is that I'll cover more of the show, and less of the leisure flier.
In the past, I run 1 day will Air Show + Republic, and the second day I remove Republic.
Any more pictures from the Show, Practices, or Republic? I wasn't able to spend much time shooting this year due to other engagements this weekend. 73 Phil / w2lie
