| I found this letter on a Yahoo Group... Below is the original message:
A Petition to Maintain an Amateur Radio Presence at the Hall of Science Dear ARRL members,
For more than 35 years, the Hall of Science Amateur Radio Club (HOSARC)has demonstrated amateur radio to children at the Hall of Science Museum in Queens, NY. We have also trained hundreds of new hams at our free ham radio classes at the museum. We are now in jeopardy of being removed from the museum as amateur radio is no longer a priority exhibit at the museum, there is a change of leadership at the museum, and there are renovations going on at the museum .
To help maintain our demonstration station, I need ARRL's help. Specifically, I need ARRL to make mention of our plight on its "Amateur Radio News and Features" frontpage and post a link to our petition to stay in the museum. Our petition can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/6ljost
We need many thoughtful signatures on our petition before we meet with the new president of the museum to plead our case (hopefully in the first week in January). We need to show our new museum president (Dr. Margaret Honey) that amateur radio is still an important part of children's science education and that she can and should take advantage of the wonderful resource amateur radio can be to the museum.
Additionally, if the ARRL has any connections to New York City government officials, those connections would certainly come in handy when talking to the museum.
Thank You Joe Bertrani KC1JOE
