Elite,
How did you know they are operating from portables, and not the link? Are you watching the radio ids?

I did notice that yesterday that 852.8500 Voice Channel was stuck in a hard-key state. Maybe it is screwing up the board?

radio id for dispatch starts with 23xxx instead of 90x and i hear the "click" after dispatch ends communication.
portables are usually a higher number like 23xxx, 30xxx, 31xxx, etc
mobiles are usually lower numbers like 10xxx, 18xxx, 19xxx, etc
plus, those headsets dont work too well on the portables either (extremely low)

I figured you were looking at the Radio IDs.
So right now, you don't see UIDs 101, 202, 303, 404, 505, 606, 707 for dispatch?
I'd be interested in knowing what you see. I started a thread here [link] to try and get as much info on radio IDs as possible for the new radios that support that feature. Admittedly, I should have probably changed the thread title to match what I was trying to do.

nope, not seeing the normal microwave UID from dispatch.
im not sure if you are aware of my website, but that is where im streaming the audio/radio id's/freqs.
i was going to attempt to collect the radio id's to tie the sectors for the vehicles since they are permanently tied to the vehicle unless the radio itself is changed out, but i never got around to it, besides, the tour sector number can be different anyway.
as for tying portables to sectors, thats not possible since portables change hands frequently

Both SCPD and SC Fire Rescue will be operating from their back up facalities for a period. Repairs on the current locations.

edit:
i will say, its a poorly thought out backup system, while it does work, the dispatchers are so low, you can hear the subaudible tone better than you can hear them.

The 911 call center in Yaphank is under going asbestos removal & the installation of new dispatch consoles.
The dispatchers are working from the emergency dispatch location near HQ with mobile radio's. This is an ongoing upgrade to the PD's comm center.
