while looking thru an old book i came across this bit of info on 3 types of coax and the reception loss in these frequency ranges; 50 mhz-RG-58 U/C--50ft is (-33%) /100ft is (-53%) RG-8 A/U-50ft is (-19%) / 100ft is (-33%) 9913 coax-50ft is (-11%) / 100ft is (-18%) 160 mhz-RG-58 U/C-50ft is (-52%) / 100ft is (-76%) RG-8 A/U-50ft is (--28%) / 100ft is (-46%) 9913 coax-50ft is (-18%) / 100ft is (-34%) 460 mhz-RG-58 U/C-50ft is (-74%) / 100ft is (-93%) RG-8 A/U-50ft is (-45%) / 100ft is (-69%) 9913 coax-50ft is (-31%) / 100ft is (-46%) 860 mhz-RG-58 U/C-50ft is (-86%) / 100ft is (-98%) RG-8 A/U-50ft is (-60%) / 100ft is (-84%) 9913 coax-50ft is (-38%) / 100ft is (-62%)

i threw that up just for a quick rundown on how bad losses can occur on the recieve end on scanning.....the link posted definately is more refined.....i tried...lol
