News item posted For the 6th year running, you will be able to listen on line to the Air Show at Jones Beach at w2lie.net. The audio will be running on my "Specialty" feed.
The frequency list for 2011 Jones Beach Air Show has been posted. Please visit http://www.w2lie.net/airshow for the full list.
If you see a frequency or performer who isn't listed, please forward me the info.
The live feed is will be launched on May 23th - so that you may hear some of the performers come into Republic Airport (Farmingdale, NY).
I will also be archiving the audio from the air show, and hope to put it on line when I get a chance.
I also hope to capture the USMC Demo at Eisenhower Park on the live feed this year.
To keep up to date on any changes, please visit the forum thread listed below.
73 - and Happy Listening! Phil / w2lie

Just a note, Friday May 27th from 10am-3pm will be a practice day. They will do the whole show. Good time to go if you can. |

Access to the beach used to be free until Saturday. I believe that last year the state started to collect the beach fee the week prior to the air show.
Nonetheless, it is a great opportunity to see the show with out the crowds. Not all performers fly, and sometimes there are long stretches of empty skies between practices.

At this time, there is some activity on 123.450 Mhz AM .
Sounds like a photo shoot with one of the performers. |

NY Arrival and Departure frequencies have been removed so the scanner spends more time on the main air show and common frequencies.
Republic tower, clearance, and ground are all still in the scanner. |

How do we get the FRG tower Arrival and Departure frequencies back on live? Without that, we can't hear whats coming in or getting ready to take off. It's needed or we only hear half the story unfolding and miss things.
(edit) I just noticed you did say NY and I am hearing the FRG tower. I guess I spoke (wrote) before the brain engaged.

I have the Tower and Ground Ops online now. The radio was too busy with NY Departure and Arrivals so I locked those out.
I will fine-tune out Republic on Sunday to concentrate on the entire Air Show. I've learned over the last few years that it can get busy on the tower frequency and you'll miss some of the action at the show. So now I spend 1 day with the tower on, and the 2nd day without.
Additionally, you can use the PCR-1000 radio and listen to anything you want, as long as it isn't on the blocked list.
Enjoy the show. |

The F-22 Raptors have been grounded and replaced with F/A-18's. Try this frequency for the F/A 18, 237.800 |

Does anyone know what freq the Air Boss is on for the show main?
Can't make it down due to a sick offspring but would love to listen.
