You could, but it is a pain...

Assuming you already have a System setup for Suffolk Trunk, and in that System you have a site for Suffolk Trunk....

Menu -> Program System -> (your suffolk trunk system) Enter
Edit Site
Select your Site, hit enter
Roll to Set Frequencies, Enter
Enter new Frequencies (Control Channels, or all 22)
Scroll to Edit Band Plan, Enter
Scroll to Custom, Enter
Band Plan 1, Enter
Base = 851.0250, upper = 854.000
Set Offset = 440 polarity +

Then hit menu and go to Plan 2
Base = 851.0125, upper = 868.9875
Offset = 0, polarity +

Then you are done.

I need some help. I'm using a BCD996T and cannot seem to get the Suffolk Trunked radio system to work. I'll hear one side and no replies.

My settings are as follows

MOT Type 2/ P25
Status Bit - On
End Code - Detect
Digital End Code - Off
All 22 Channels entered

I've set it up sites as - Custom using the Bandplans in this thread, Standard 800 and Splinter 800. none seem to work correctly.

I'm using ProScan to program the radio and it offers to calculate the Upper frequency after entering the Lower frequency, spacing, and offset

I just cannot seem to get this right

Problem Solved!

The radio did not have the custom site - It looked like it had.

I programmed another site as custom and everything works as it should.

Wow - That was weird

Sorry to resurrect this old thread.

I have my old Radio Shack PRO-95 Dual Trunking handheld scanner that I had previously programmed years ago with the re-banded 851 to 853 range (22 frequencies) and was working fine. Recently, I noticed that while scanning, it shows all the active talk groups, but doesn't stop on them, it just keeps scanning. After I see the group pop up on my screen, it then plays on the SCPDNY.com cast. I've changed the Motorola 800 Mhz from NORMAL to OFFSET (Splinter). Any ideas what I'm missing here?

Win95 Program Screen below.

Thanks.

There are no longer 22 freqs on that system. The smartzone system only uses whats listed below. I would try removing any freqs from your programming that are not used any longer.
Suffolk County
851.0625
851.0875
851.2375
851.3625c
851.4125a
851.6875a
852.2875a
852.400
853.675
853.800
853.825

Also take note that there are certain freqs that the pro 95 will not receive any longer. You can still hear some traffic on that system but like 65 percent. I have a pro 95 myself.and still receive some traffic. There are people out there that will tell you that you cant with that scanner but you can. I will dig out my programming tonight and post it.

Here is a qoute from another site regarding pro95 and rebanding. [link]

Scanners that cannot have their firmware "flashed" so that updated trunking tables can be entered will still continue to track, but will not "hear" all the frequencies. The frequencies that cannot be received by legacy trunk-tracking scanners while in trunking mode are those frequencies that start with 851, 852, 853, and have a "0" (zero) in the fourth decimal place. If the rebanded system or site does not have any of these frequencies in the frequency pool, legacy scanners will be unaffected in their trunking ability.

Suffolk is moving to a p25 digital system and the smartzone system is operating in analog and p25 on some talk groups. The pro 93 and 95 will not decode digital.

Thank you Dave3825us.

Made the suggested changes and still not locking onto any TGs and playing them. Very strange.

Appreciate any other programming notes that you can share later on.

Yes, I am aware of the change that SCPD is making to P25 digital, Phase II trunking. I am in the market for a new handheld. Looking at either the Whistler TRX-1 or Uniden BCD436HP. They're quite a bit of money, but should last me a long time, especially since they can be updated with various firmware, etc.

Thank you again.

Try changing the Motorola 800 MHz setting to Normal, not Offset.

As Dave notes, the scanner will not be able to follow all traffic due to the channel changes brought on by rebanding. Specifically, it will not be able to follow voice traffic on the four highest frequencies listed (852.400, 853.675, 853.800, 853.825)
