Superstorm Sandy Feeds

thumb_coastguardstormsignal-copy.jpgIt is hard to believe that Hurricane Sandy hit Long Island just 6 years ago. Many of us were glued to the TV and were monitoring weather reports trying to keep track of where the storm might track.

Nobody could guess just how hard this area would be hit. Nobody expected the storm surges would be so great. Nobody expected lines at the gas station, or to be without power for so long.

To mark the anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, we will be replaying the NCPD, SCPD, NCFD-East, and SCFD-West feeds in "real time". The feeds will begin at 1200hrs on 10/28/18 and run through 23:30hrs on 10/31/18. The feeds will run in time sequence as they would have been broadcasted a year ago.

The four feeds will be running as follows:
SANDY-NCFD
SANDY-NCPD
SANDY-SCPD
SANDY-SCFD

You will be able to listen to the feeds on your computer by using one of the links on our Live Feed Page, or via the Scanner Radio app on iOS or Android Platforms.

We hope all of those who have been hit hard by this storm have recovered.

From W2LIE.net, Monitor Long Island, Inc, Long Island Fire Photos.com, and now East Coast Pagers, we wish to thank all those who protect our country and our cities every day.  We pray for those who are still suffering, and those who have lost loved ones in the attacks.  We salute those who went over seas to bring justice to those who waged war on us.  I hope everyone spends a few minutes today thinking about those that they love and take time to reflect on another year that has passed.

Phil

Uniden's New SDS100 is now shipping - Here are my thoughts

screen_shot_2018-06-06_at_9.29.59_pm.pngUniden has a new flagship model out, and it is the SDS100

This new radio is built around the very popular SDR technology.   In theory, this radio should do extremely well in P25 simulcast environments.  Fortunately for us here on Long Island, we don't have much of a problem when it comes to P25 simulcast.

I've setup a page where I will be reviewing the SDS100.  You can visit www.sds100review.com for more information on what I think of the radio.   While you are there, please sign up for my e-mail list so you can stay up to date while I play around with the radio.

There is also my unboxing video on Facebook at and also on my new YouTube channel.

I will be hosting a live Facebook Q&A this coming Saturday 6/9/18 and I'm sure there will be plenty of questions on the SDS100.  Feel free to check it out on the Scanner School Facebook page

If you are in the market for a Uniden SDS100, we have an affiliate program with ScannerMaster.   If you use our link to purchase an SDS100 or anything else at Scanner Master, w2lie.net will earn a small commission on anything you purchase.   This is a great way to help support w2lie.net without it costing you any extra.
