Town of Islip UHF

Has Islip Town switched to digital on their UHF frequencies? I'm not hearing analog transmissions on their frequencies anymore (unless I'm not listening long enough).

For what it's worth, their UHF licese (WEC745) only shows authorization for FM modulation (20K0F3E).

Their TG on the SCPD 800 system is actively being used.

It doesn't sound like it is conventional P25 to me. I'll have to hook it through DSDDecode and possibly DRM Decode to see what type of modulation they are using.

I'm going to guess TRBO at this time.

Sorry Dave, I didn't have a chance to do this yet. I've been busy programming scanner and pagers pretty much all week for the last few months. Business has been good

Dave,
I threw DSD+ on for a few, and this is what I found so far. I need more time to monitor this.

0471.3375 Islip Town F1 - DMR - CC10
0471.3625 Islip Town F2 - No Rx
0470.3625 Islip Town F3 - DMR - CC06

I am getting the same thing on 471 3375 The audio is unreadable, not sure if its enc or something else..

Re: Town of Islip UHF
Dave3825us, Fri Feb 05 2016, 01:17am

Was very, very close to a brand new marked Town Of Islip Public Safety car today and all he had was an 800mhz antenna. He also had a computer in the car. I did not see an 800mhz license for islip.

Nor did I see any uhf antenna on the car. It does look like they transitioned to dmr though their license does not reflect it.

Re: Town of Islip UHF
mikey224, Wed Feb 10 2016, 01:52am

Been off this board for awhile, but check it every now and then....From my understanding the Fire Marshals have switched to a Digital system and Public Safety/Park Rangers are on the County's 800 system.

Re: Town of Islip UHF
Dave3825us, Wed Feb 10 2016, 02:07am

The rangers and fire marshals are on the 800 system. I have not heard public safety or code enforcement on that system.

The freqs listed for islip are dmr. Their licenses do not reflect a digital emission. But they seem to be dmr cap+ ras.

I believe I might be ready to make a submission for this system (even tho its enc) but wanted to know if someone who understands cap+ could run the following thru dsdplus to confirm I did this right..

network file entry

Cap+, 9999, "Town of Islip"

freq file entry

; Cap+ Town of Islip

Cap+, 9999, 1, 1, 471.3625, 471.3625, 0
Cap+, 9999, 1, 3, 470.3625, 470.3625, 0
Cap+, 9999, 1, 5, 471.3375, 471.3375, 0
Cap+, 9999, 1, 7, 470.9125, 470.9125, 0
Cap+, 9999, 1, 9, 471.3875, 471.3875, 0

site file entry

Cap+, 9999, 1 "site 1 Islip"

from event log
2019/08/26 08:08:18 Freq=470.912500 DCC=6 RAS 470.912500 is first Cap+ repeater (Ch1 and Ch2)
2019/08/26 08:10:00 Freq=470.362500 DCC=6 RAS 470.362500 is second Cap+ repeater (Ch3 and Ch4)

Anyone able to try the above?

Re: Town of Islip UHF

They chucked this system. They were using XPR4550's for DPW. They literally threw them in the dumpster. I am not sure what they're currently using for DPW.

I was there, at the town auction when the ripped them out and referred to them as "old" radios and threw them out!

Re: Town of Islip UHF
Dave3825us, Tue Feb 08 2022, 03:42pm

They may have disposed of some radios, and that's not being disputed, but their DMR Cap+ System that you stated they "chucked", is very active as seen above.

Are you assuming they ditched the system because you saw some radios go in a dumpster or do you have another reason to believe and state they ditched the Dmr system?

What was the date of that auction and how many radios did you see get ripped out?

Still not sure who is actually using the dmr freqs (uhf in database) but the Rangers, Fire Marshal, Mac Arthur Security and Fire Rescue are still on the Suffolk system where they have been for a long time.

Other town Ops such as DPW might be on the town system. Don't overlook them.

The Department of Public Safety Enforcement encompasses the Divisions of , Code Enforcement, Fire Prevention, Hazardous Materials Response Team, Office of Emergency Management, Parking Violations Bureau .

I have heard the following on Suffolk's system using tg 1168 (smartzone) 73 (p25)
Harbor Patrol
Public Safety
Fire Marshals
and I believe code Enforcement

Airport sec is on tg 101 and Airport Fire is on tg 41

The town has the following and I am not sure who is actually using dmr.

Parks and recreation, Animal control, Dpw, Sanitation trucks and the Landfills and Senior transport buses

This system was active for about a year after it was stated they chucked the system. Today, the cc is active but not activity or affiliations.

Anyone know where DPW is operating?
Rangers, Public Safety and Fire Marshals use Suff P25.

Where is DPW?

Re: Town of Islip UHF
nyscan00, Sat Jan 20 2024, 03:20am

Where was DPW prior to going DMR? Were they on any of the conventional UHF listed on RR? If so maybe they are on one of the old analogs ?

The old analog uhf freqs listed conventionally on radio reference are digital and part of a Cap+ system that was still active Jan 2022. Phil originally found it to be Cap+.

I believe the only remaining analog left is

471.275 107.2 PL Airport Fire Dispatch and Ops
476.3875 107.2 PL Airport Fire and Plows
477.2125 107.2 PL Airport Fire Ops 3

Rangers, Public Safety and Fire marshals have been operating on Islip tg on P25 for some time so that left DPW, DEC, Animal Control, Parks and Rec and OEM believed to be on the DMR system.

Airport fire, Airport security and Islip HazMat operate on the MacArthur tg's on Suff P25.

Suffolk Pd also has units stationed @ ISP and they communicate on Command band and MacArthur security tg's.
