North Merrick 453.57500
swker98, Sat Dec 09 2017, 01:50am

Saw this in the FCC database for new/renewed licenses.
453.57500 and 458.57500
Its registered to North Bellmore (650) as the location but its for North Merrick FD...40 Watts....Old channel they used to use with 650 or something new?
Also looks like it was registered to Westbury FD before they changed over to 453.100...

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Darkstar350, Sat Dec 09 2017, 12:14pm

Seems to be something new
And yes it was Westburys dispatch freq until recently
Intresting how the repeater is at 650 as they do not dispatch for North Merrick
This freq is also used by some type of bridge authority...

I think the TBTA is on there as well.

PL 114.8

Guys,
Thanks for the Westbury info, I did already have that frequency & PL. but what I’m confused about was the comment that “it was Westbury’s frequency until recently”. The way that is worded makes it looks like Westbury’s freq USED to be 453.1000 PL 114.8 but NOW it is something different. Has it been changed???

I think he was referring to the frequency in the topic title.

PFD Mike, Fri Dec 22 2017, 02:37am

Westbury used to use 453.575 then they changed to 453.100

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Darkstar350, Tue Dec 11 2018, 08:37pm

Update on this - recently i have noticed 650 occasionally testing North Merrick toneouts on 46.10
And just today i heard 650 toning North Merrick on 453.575
I did not have tone search on at the time however and i am not sure if this is just a backup thing or what...

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
w2lie, Sun Dec 16 2018, 02:14pm

That is supposed to be NMFD's new UHF frequency for dispatching. From what I was told, NMFD wanted to be on UHF earlier in the year but had a delay on getting the equipment ordered and installed.

Sounds like they now have the equipment installed and ready to go, and now they are testing.

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
RADIOTECH, Mon Dec 17 2018, 03:16am

Are they going back to 650?

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Darkstar350, Mon Dec 17 2018, 07:01pm

Possible DPL of 466

Seems like 650 will be somewhat of a "backup" dispatch if Firecom is busy etc, somewhat a setup like Baldwin has(Baldwin self dispatches mostly, but 650 will dispatch sometimes)
So at the moment it seems Firecom will continue to dispatch N.M on 46.10, and 650 will dispatch them on 453.575 when needed
I dont know why they want to use that freq however as they already have a hi band repeater freq - unless it will be dedicated for tone outs only...

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
RADIOTECH, Tue Dec 18 2018, 12:14am

650 dispatches Baldwin part time, nights, weekends and holidays.

And I think most depts are planning to make the move to UHF paging and ops, as low band is becoming obsolete. Motorola pagers will no longer support low band. Suffolk County Firecom has built a simulcasted UHF paging system with 2 freqs that will replace low band paging, not in use yet. Then all communication with Firecom will take place over a 700/800mhz trunked system. I’m sure Nassau is planning something similar as they have their UHF paging freq already in use.

Are 170.15 and 484.7 still in use?

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
emfd57, Wed Dec 19 2018, 09:28pm

650 is now the dispatcher for North Merrick. Firecom will still tone out North Merrick if the call comes into Firecom but will ring the alarm line after at 650 and 650 will take over. A few departments do this now where firecom will do the initial tone out and will ring the alarm line of the department they toned out and that department will take over. East Meadow 610 is able to tone out North Merrick if need be as well as a back up.

North Merrick has not been using their 170mhz freqs for several years
Aside from 46.10/32 for dispatch they use 484.7 PL 100.0 which i think is a repeater and 453.9875 DPL 466 which is simplex
So the question is will they vacate or re purpose any of their highband freqs now with having the new freq..

Thanks Darkstar. I'll be monitoring 484.7 and will report any findings.

Welcome
And i could have sworn i heard them toning out on 484.7 - or testing in the very least - one time or another
Thats why its interesting to see them go for another freq - a somewhat "busy" frequency at that
Unless they are getting some bleed over from NYC's 480mhz freqs ...

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
w2lie, Sun Dec 23 2018, 08:54pm

From what I was told, they are moving off T band and into an FCC "compliant" frequency. At least that was the story I got a few months back when I was in talks with one of their radio guys.

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Darkstar350, Tue Dec 25 2018, 01:00am

So basically they may abandon 484.7 and switch over to 453.575?

Also ive confirmed the 466 DPL for the tone out at least...

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Darkstar350, Fri Feb 08 2019, 11:54pm

453.575 DPL 466 seems to simulcast 46.10 and 46.32 but i am only hearing the dispatch side?...

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Nawton!, Sat Feb 09 2019, 11:15pm

I'm hearing toneout and what sounds like fireground, not 46.32 simulcast.

As of this week I believe North Merrick is using this frequency for more if not all of their operations.

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Darkstar350, Sun Feb 02 2020, 01:25pm

I have been hearing what may be a low power/simplex channel on 453.575 PL 69.3
Anyone else getting this? Could this be a new fireground for 670?

This morning also got some hits on 453.575 with a PL of 69.3 going to try to do some more research to try to figure out exactly what it is . I know the MTA Bridge and Tunnels has a repeater on 453.575

MTA uses PL 114.8 i believe but im not sure if they use that freq anymore now the 700mhz system is on the air

Looking through the FCC database I wonder if its this

Maybe 453.575 PL 69.3 is MTA Bridges and Tunnels PD ch. 10, as listed in N2NOV's site: [link]

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
RADIOTECH, Mon May 04 2020, 04:06pm

So what we determined what this UHF freq is for North Merrick? Does North Merrick talk to Firecom on 46.32 or are they using a UHF freq now?

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Nawton!, Thu May 07 2020, 11:49pm

North Merrick is dispatched by 6-5-0 on 453.575 DPL 466. They don't talk to Fire Com and do not routinely use 46.32. Occasionally, you will hear Fire Com tone them out on 453.875, but that's only when the call comes in to Fire Com.

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
RADIOTECH, Fri May 08 2020, 03:42am

So North Merrick left Firecom and went back to 650?

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Nawton!, Fri May 08 2020, 01:20pm

Apparently

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
deviltim, Fri May 08 2020, 03:08pm

Yes north merrick went back to 650

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
RADIOTECH, Sun May 10 2020, 04:45am

So 650 tones out North Merrick on 453.575. Is this used for Ops also, or is there another freq?

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
deviltim, Sun May 10 2020, 01:31pm

You are correct, that’s the ops channel. They have a fg channel, not sure if drew right this minute

Re: North Merrick 453.57500
Lynchie22586, Mon May 11 2020, 03:49am

I have a FG frequency of 453.9875 DPL466 and another ops frequency of 484.7000 PL100.0
