PSEG 900 MHz P25 TRS
Darkstar350, Mon Mar 30 2020, 05:33pm
DSD showing "P25P1 NAC 981" on 935.8125 which appears to be a p25 control channel Usually its PSEG using P25 on 900mhz but i dont see this freq licensed to them I was monitoring this freq as part of the PDV Wireless/Teamconnect DMR system but i havent got DMR yet

Also this freq apparently is not transmitting any system/site ID - only the NAC

What version dsd are you running? Your in central Nassau? I am picking this up in East Islip without an amp and I am using an indoor antenna. Wonder if its virus related.
At the moment I am running and older version but it shows this,

Im not getting a great signal but hoping to fix that very soon. Might fire up the amp in the morning..

I think its version 1.101 - its newer than another version i was using for a while but im not sure if its the latest
Probably not
It is a relatively weak signal for me so that could also be why its not decoding the system info

Managed to get this for you. I don't have a valid membership at rr.com at the moment but if you do try searching the cc and the voice channels in this pic. I would and might later but my hands are full today.

Thanks dave
I did a little searching but havent found any valid license for any of those freqs in the tri state
I was monitoring 935.8125 because it is supposedly part of the Teamconnect DMR system on the Melville site 085 but so far i have only got the P25 activity

This is all I have it this point. Going to keep it running and might get a second dongle going and let unitrunker sit on it and have trunk record try to catch some voice. Hope its phase 1

Lol had I not been doing 20 things at the same time I might have noticed that. Then again, only had 2 coffees today. Hoping to get this pc and sdr stuff to the upstairs office and get something decent mounted to the chimney. Right now its down stairs while some work is being done upstairs.
Wish I could catch some voice.

So far I have seen 3 tg's on this with no audio. I now have a temp antenna on my first floor ac unit outside and now the signal is a lot stronger..
All I have managed to catch is a guy saying testing over and over on tg 225 and guy saying audio check on tg 220.
(live 2 minutes west of old apartment and with just a 3 inch piece of coax outside, can receive metro and doitt without needing the lna and moxon)

I wonder if this is actually some type of testing for the new PSEG P25 system
If its some radio company just doing testing - then despite having no specific license they can have somewhat of a test license that covers more or less any frequency range
For example

COuld also be anywhere in tristate tho I do get it on my 436 with stock antenna.

Anyone know if this system seems to be simulcast or patched with the PSEG analog freqs?
Havent heard any voice on the system yet and Im still hearing activity on 158.175/220
I also think that this is transmitting from somewhere in suffolk as i get a rather weak signal on this system however 900mhz reception is not the best in my area

935.8125, 939.6125, 939.8125 are not yet licensed or pending under YI licenses. Perhaps in time they'll pop up.
Nice thing about the new per-site YI licenses is that we now have a good site map of the entire system. Whether all sites are online remains to be determined.

I still do hear activity on 158.160 158.175 158.220 and 173.300

Had all my dongles tuned to public safety but last week there was decent daily chatter on tg's 220 and 550. Last night I left it running and all that was seen was a bunch of group in use entries. Not one group call like what was being seen last week. Not sure who uses this system but I don't think they are 24/7.
I am also not that far from their Central Islip corporate office and believe I have received them even with the 800 mhz antenna am using now. But so far this morning I have not heard a single transmission.

Have the scanner on and fire depts are busy again today with wires down, trees on fire and transformer fires. Been running the p25 system and only 3 calls seen in OP25. Even tho there are many out of state linesmen here on the island, in addition the the PSEG workers, one would think there would be a more PSEG activity on the uhf\vhf freqs. Only vhf I heard was on 158.160 Pseg Dispatch and Operations and that was disp giving directions to an address.
Many of the linesmen I have seen from out of state have antenna on their trucks. The freqs they use are licensed to their area. Wonder if when they are out of state, are they allowed to use their radios?

Sorry, I’m not a DSD user so I’m not familiar some of the jargon being used here. When you say “Group in Use”, does that mean a radio is affiliated with the system but nobody is talking, or are you actually hearing people talk?

You got the activity only on 158.160? Because there has been plenty of activity on 158.175 and 158.220 as well
153.710 and 158.235 are more electric ops freqs but i think those may be used more so in eastern suffolk
Pretty sure they still use 100.0 PL for all their freqs
As far as out of state goes - look for some freqs for "Pike Electric"
Pike electric is known to give mutual aid to various states during storms
They mostly use lowband freqs around 49mhz
49.46 49.54 and 49.58 with 67.0 PL
It also wouldnt hurt to plug in a few "dot/star" itinerant freqs such as 464/469.500 464/469.550 and whatnot during storms
I think the plan is to have the 900mhz system be setup for mutual aid and perhaps link it to the NJ system eventually but time will tell with that...

Only traffic I heard was 158.160 in a 2 hour span then I had to leave the house for a while. Disp was loud and clear and did not hear field unit. At the moment my only antenna is cut for 800mhz.
I found freqs listed in fcc that are licensed to pseg that are not in the db and stuck them in also. Most were uhf but not any hits.
When I asked about out of state help, I meant are they (the out of state guys) allowed to talk to each other (the out of state guys) on the their freqs? Their freqs that are licensed to where ever they are from? Just wondering if there are rules .
Todays 900 mhz p25 counts
tg 550 7
tg 220 2
tg 228 8

Also may be worth a shot to try some of the 900mhz itinerant freqs during storms and whatnot -

I'm thinking searching VHF. Even low band wouldn't be out of the question.

PSEG seems to be still using their usual VHF channels for the most part
They have low band freqs licensed but i dont think they use them but you never know
[link]The trucks tend to have long whip antennas on them
I also heard that the frequency 37.60 is somewhat of a nationwide interop freq for utility companies
On another note i got activity on 154.490 D664 a few days ago
Its another one of those simplex/itinerant freqs - possibly licensed to First Energy

Kinda weird same rids keep keying up doing checks but they have the same rid for portable and mobile.
And each time they id with a different mobile/portable, its the same rid as the last pair of radios.
2039 mobile counts 12345 rid 10289
2039 portable counts 12345 rid 10289
2014 portable counts 12345 rid 10289
2014 mobile counts 12345 rid 10289

So is it the system still more or less only being used for testing?
I still just pick up the control channel for now - havent got any voice yet

It was stated on rr that it was starting to become active but I have not really been following it much. I was hearing repair related calls the day I posted about the testing.

Do you recall what locations the repair dispatch was for?

Heard them talk about a pole down on Middle Country road. Not sure if Nass has a Middle Country road or not but I know Suff does.

A lot of activity today. Multiple service/repair calls. Also "Team" units doing lots of portable & mobile radio checks on 211, 212 & 213. Radio techs checking radios prior to install? Looks like they are getting ready to ramp-up usage of this system.
300 repair activity Plainview. Much less activity on this TG as compared to the next 3 listed. Guessing they are still deploying radios to this Division.
401 repair activity Remesenburg (Town of Southhampton ).
500 repair activity Edgemere, Far Rockaway, Cedarhurst, Roosevelt, Long Beach & Elmont
550 repair activity Bayshore, East Farmingdale & Saint James
Just trying to figure out what talkgroups are what.
Here's my list of TG's heard by me & compiled from the thread so far:
211 212 213 220 221 224 225 228 300 401 500 550
Going to tag these TG's as the following for now (pending further info):
211, 212, 213 Radio Techs
300 Service Central Nassau
401 Service East Suffolk
500 Service Queens/Nassau
550 Service West Suffolk
PSEG LI Divison Map:
[link]The system reception here in North Babylon is excellent. With 436HP sitting on desk with stock antenna I'm getting zero error rate.

This system seems to be getting a bit more active - possibly to do with all the wind and rain we have had recently
Hearing less activity on their old analog freqs also
Getting the most hits on TG 401 as well as TG 550 so far
