Terryville & Port Jeff
AndrewD, Sun May 02 2021, 02:12am

Terryville simulcasts operations across 451.375 AND 482.5000. Not sure why..

Port Jeff is completely dead. Can anyone confirm their frequencies? (They’ve been on the same frequencies for a good 20 years now.

Port Jeff ambulance UHF frequencies also dead. Are they on VHF?

When Terryville FD switched from VHF Lo to UHF they were first licensed for 451.375.
When they got licensed for T-band they started simulcasting on both frequencies. I'm
not sure why they continue to do that.

Port Jeff FD (if this is what you are referring to) is 453.8375 DCS 662. This is what
they've been using since their switch to UHF (20+ years ago).

Port Jeff Ambulance aka Port Jefferson EMS is licensed for two UHF frequencies.
The one to monitor is 460.475 DCS 331. They are licensed for VHF but you won't
hear them there (still dispatched by Medcom on 155.280 and talk to Medcom on
the trunked system, Medcom East)

Thank you for the info..

I'm monitoring Terryville now. Thought I was crazy. But Both of their UHF frequencies are only broadcasting half of the conversation (only the dispatcher). Not hearing any of the units transmit.

Port Jeff ops channel 453.8375 is still up and running , hearing them sun 5/2 @15:30 and I’m in Nassau

Terryville FD units sometimes use only their iPad to give signals to the dispatcher. It's possible that's what's happening when you're monitoring and hear only the dispatcher.

At some point during a call you should be hearing the unit(s) also.

I'm gonna monitor them for a while and see if I hear the units.

I’m also hearing some units here and there but l most time, I don’t hear them.

They are (as previously stated) most likely giving the Signal over the computer and the Dispatcher SOP is to acknowledge the over the radio. There are a few depts that do this as well.

Port Jefferson FD also uses 453.2875 DPL662 for paging.

Terryville 451.375 used to be their Main Ops freq prior to them acquiring T-band freqs
Terryville still pages on 453.075 PL 167.9

@RADIOTECH Are you sure about that pl? I believe 167.9 in the db is wrong.

I started a thread because I was hearing Terryville tone out on 453.075 79.7 and someone else confirmed my finding as seen here. [link]

Then it’s prob changed again. The paging freq is shared with North Patchogue FD. Years ago, you could hear them both with DCS 031. Over the years it changed a few times.

I am going to make a submission unless anyone can confirm 167.9 is still in use. The db does show N Patchogue on the same freq with the same call sign that's licensed to Terryville. WPAA879

Are you sure it's Terryville and not the Ems in CT on that freq and pl? Left my 436 in search mode for a week and did not receive any thing with a tone of 167.9. Did receive 79.7.

My radio has 167.9 in and I am receiving their tones (“attention terryville”) loud and clear. I will check again and make sure!

2 days ago, I got an Attention Terryville, for a sig 16 @ a Dr office on Medical Drive, North of 347 5A 4 0

edit,
2 calls today for Terryville today and pl was 79.7.

79.7. Confirmed!! 167.9 is DEAD

Re: Terryville & Port Jeff
RADIOTECH, Fri Jun 04 2021, 08:10pm

So Terryville is using 482.5 as their main ops freq?

Is it still patched with 451.375?

Also, when depts. change freqs, its sort of a nightmare. Not only do they have to change all their own radios (dispatch, mobiles, portables, pagers) all the surrounding depts. have to change theirs as well. That could be the reason for keeping the 2 freqs patched.

Bumping this thread. Just got a submission over at RR claiming that Terryville 453.075 is back to using 167.9 PL, not 79.7 PL. Can anyone confirm this definitively?

Re: Terryville & Port Jeff
GTR8000, Mon Dec 27 2021, 10:03pm

I've removed the PL from the RRDB unless someone can determine if this is a permanent change. Not interested in playing ping-pong twice a year with this channel...if they can't settle on one tone, then we'll just leave it blank on RR and let the scanners receive everything.

I left the freq plugged in for a while last nite and they did not have any calls. Gonna leave it on today and see what I get.

Proscan shows 11comms on 453.075 pl 79.96 between 10 15 am thru 1 37 pm.

I can post a screen shot later if requested or needed..

I don't get it...why are we getting reports of 79.7 and 167.9 being used on 453.075? Is there another user in the area that is confusing people?

I see that CT is using 453.075 with 167.9 PL for "Region 2 Interop 1", which covers New Haven and Middlesex counties. Is that what people are getting tripped up on, and thinking it's related to Terryville?

I guess I'll set the tone back to 79.7 on RR and wait until someone else comes along with 167.9. Ugh.

At 16:15 hrs Thursday 12/30, Terryville just toned out on 453.0750 w/ pl 79.7

Re: Terryville & Port Jeff
Dave3825us, Fri Dec 31 2021, 12:25am

I am in Islip Terrace and in csq all I receive on that freq is pl 79.7. Not really sure who is submitting this nonsense. Gonna hook up to my rooftop antenna and see what's up.. Bet its CT and who ever is hearing CT locations is not connecting the dots.

I’m on the border in Farmingdale and I have been hearing them loud and clear so not sure what is up and with no interference

Re: Terryville & Port Jeff

Should have no problem hearing them on paging 453.075 as I'm pretty sure they're still using their site on Bald Hill in Selden. I think they used to share a paging transmitter on Bald Hill with North Patchogue, but I think NPFD uses a local tower now, as their signal isn't as strong as Terryvilles anymore.

I hear them both with no problem
