I’ll miss low-band, but admittedly it will allow us to all use shorter antennas for scanning.

There will be too many paging freqs to monitor now to hear what depts have. What FRES should do, is give one of the old in-active Medcom Vhf freqs, like 155.175 or 154.415 and allow depts to simulcast or voice their activations on it if they choose to allow depts to have a “common” freq

FYI, as of this morning Wyandanch FD is no longer being dispatched by Dix Hills on 453.550. They have gone back to using Babylon Central Fire Alarm on the East rptr 472.300.

About a month ago, Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance also started using 472.300 instead of 155.220 for dispatch with BCFA.

Interesting note that was included in my property tax bill I just received:

"In years past, each individual fire district charged you for the dispatch services through your individual fire district tax or village tax rate."

"The costs associated with operating Babylon Central Fire Alarm will now be consolidated and listed on a seperate line on your property tax bill"

It's $24 a year on my bill.

Pretty sure Amityville FD will start using BCFA soon also, as the dept's no longer have to pay for dispatching service (it now comes out of tax money). Half the time, I don't hear anybody answering AFD on the radio anymore.

Correct on Amitville Village FD. BCFA is now dispatching for them. They are still toning out their calls on 477.425 as well as the BCFA ones. Dispatch on Babylon Town West 472.375.
