Looks like you will need to monitor the p25 system to be able to listen to riverhead pd. I've only logged a few radios on the old smartzone system.

Riverhead Pd has 3 talkgroups on the counties system.
103 Riverhead PD
105 Riverhead car 2 car
107 not widely used. (I will make a submission)

So I have the RS PRO-164 scanner with ac300 software. In pic shows talkgroups I have had for years with them. Should I change to talkgroups 103,105?

You will need a new scanner or an sdr dongle. They are on a P25 Phase 2 system and the scanner is only analog. Riverhead and most other county tg's are operating in phase 1. FD is rumored to be all on phase 2 and some fd are already on it now.

A 30 dollar sdr dongle with sdrtrunk, Unitrunker or DSDPlus would work. There is software for Linux also.

Thanks for the help. I see now and have read up on this P25 system. Time for a new scanner. The dongle could be a temporary item till then.

Does anyone monitor Riverhead pd? Looking for what they refer to tg 107 as when they switch to it from 103.
