Does anyone know if NYS Parks Police still uses 159.420 at jones Beach or are they using a different frequency, and if so what the current frequency is? I always listened to the frequency in the summer and I haven't heard anything on it lately and I figured there would be a lot of action on it this weekend.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Jones beach is 159.390 - im not sure of a tone but something tells me PL 167.9 perhaps?...
Not really an issue here because there isnt much if any interference/co-users on that freq...

159.39 is the Parks Commission (operations). The Parks PD has always been 159.42, but I agree with scanwave that the frequency has been suspiciously quiet lately.

I had been monitoring them during the Memorial Day weekend. They then switched to "Channel 2", which I had assumed might have been a talk around setup on the same frequency.

Looks like someone needs to go to the beach

Sorry to reply late. Thanks for all the replies! I was in the process of updating my scanner for the summer and I happened to notice the Jones Beach Parks Police frequency was unusually quiet. I suspected they may have changed frequency, but I wasn't sure.

I was monitoring other state parks frequencies in my scanner but I didn't hear anything from the Jones Beach Parks Police from Memorial Day to now. I have 159.390 for Jones Beach also but I've never heard the Parks Police on it, just the other park personnel. I agree-this weekend is always a good time for listening to the scanner!

I do have 159.255 in my scanner as a state Parks Police frequency, I believe it could be the channel 2 but I'm not sure. I've really never picked up much action on it, I had seen it posted by someone else as a state Parks frequency a long time ago. I saw it come up for a quick moment once last weekend but I couldn't receive it too well and couldn't identify what I heard.

If anyone happens to find anything out, please feel free to post. Thanks!

Thanks again!

Ive been near jones beach(great reception by the way) and what i would get on close call was 159.390 and 47.02 or 47.06 if the DOT was cutting grass or something in the area
It wasnt during events or anything like that so i suppose different channels could be in use during events like memorial day,etc...

Is it possible they are nassau's trunked system? They have a talk group on the Suffolk trunked system.

Just to give this thread a bump, has anyone heard NYS Park Police lately? I've been monitoring 159.42 for the last month and haven't heard a peep. Anybody know where they went?

I am told that they are using the Nassau County TRS now. JB Maintenance and Lifeguards are still using VHF 159.390 simplex.
